Rio Grande do Sul Court creates Virtual Chambers to streamline banking cases using AI
July 28, 2025 – The Rio Grande do Sul Court of Justice (TJRS) unanimously approved the creation of two new Civil Virtual Special Chambers dedicated exclusively to Banking Legal Matters (NJB). The initiative, presented by Court President Justice Alberto Delgado Neto, aims to modernize the judiciary through the use of artificial intelligence, increasing efficiency, consistency, and speed in the adjudication of these cases. Brazilian Superior Court of Justice upholds clinic’s right of reply
The decision of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), published in July 2025, upheld the right of reply granted to a Rio de Janeiro clinic against Rede Globo, following the broadcast of two news reports containing allegedly false information. While the claim was initially rejected by a lower court for not identifying abuse of press freedom, the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice (TJRJ) ordered the reply to be aired — a decision later confirmed by the STJ’s Third Panel under Law 13,188/2015. São Paulo Court rejects unfair competition claim between real estate platforms
On June 26, 2025, the 2nd Reserved Chamber of Business Law of the São Paulo Court of Justice upheld the decision of the 1st Business and Arbitration Conflicts Court of the Capital, which dismissed a claim for unfair competition and client diversion filed by a real estate rental and sales platform against a competitor in the same sector.
