On October 3, 2025, the First Panel of the Small Claims Courts of the Paraná Court of Justice (TJ/PR) denied a candidate’s request to have his essay score reviewed based on the assessment of an artificial intelligence tool. The applicant, who had taken part in the court’s own public examination, submitted his essay to the AI platform “Glau,” which gave him a higher grade than the official examiners. He then sought judicial review, reclassification, and compensation for moral damages.
Reporting Judge Fernando Andreoni Vasconcellos ruled that the judiciary’s role in public examinations is limited to verifying legality and cannot replace the examining board’s discretionary assessment. He further noted that the AI tool lacked human oversight or independent auditing, which undermines its reliability and the fairness of the selection process, rendering its evaluation insufficient to justify judicial intervention.
