On May 20, 2025, the Rio de Janeiro chapter of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-RJ) filed a request with the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) to suspend a ruling that allowed the digital platform “Resolve Juizado” to continue operating. The request challenges the decision of the Federal Regional Court of the 2nd Region (TRF-2), which authorized the sale of legal petitions generated by artificial intelligence.

OAB-RJ argues that the platform constitutes unauthorized legal practice and poses a serious threat to public order and citizenship. The service targets lay users and uses AI to generate initial petitions, promoted with aggressive advertising—a practice the Bar Association views as a form of improper commercialization of the legal profession.

In its petition to STJ President Justice Herman Benjamin, OAB-RJ calls for the suspension of the TRF-2 decision, reinstatement of the order to take the website offline, and removal of all company advertisements until a final decision is reached in the ongoing class action lawsuit.
