The Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence of the Brazilian House of Representatives held a public hearing  Tuesday (12) August to discuss the national innovation ecosystem and Brazil’s competitiveness in the field of artificial intelligence. The meeting, held in Plenary 2, aimed to support discussions on Bill 2338/23, which addresses the governance and regulation of AI systems in the country.

According to lawmakers, defining an appropriate legal framework will be crucial for Brazil’s integration into global technology chains, the attraction of foreign investment, and the strengthening of startups and innovative companies. Concerns were raised about the risks of overregulation, the importance of alignment with international standards, and the need to ensure legal certainty while fostering innovation.
