The Brazilian Ministry of Sports has expanded the list of eligible sports for fixed-odds betting, now allowing more types of online games, including shooting games, to be approved for betting in the country. The change was formalized through a decree published in the Official Gazette, updating previous legislation to allow eSports tournaments to be eligible for betting as long as they have the proper authorization from game developers. Previously, only eSports recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) were allowed for betting, excluding some popular game types.

This change reflects the growth of the online betting market in Brazil, which moves billions of reais monthly. In addition, the regulation of online sports betting was formalized in December 2023, with hundreds of betting companies being authorized to operate legally in the country. The new law establishes restrictions, such as the prohibition of participation by minors and individuals with direct ties to the sports sector, ensuring more control and security in the market.
