The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has announced a series of initiatives aimed at simplifying the application of the GDPR, with a particular focus on micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. Adopted on 2 July 2025, the statement introduces ready-to-use templates, checklists, FAQs, and other practical tools to support legal compliance. It also outlines plans to standardise breach notification forms and improve guidance formats with clearer, more accessible language aligned with the risk-based approach.
The EDPB reaffirms its commitment to consistent GDPR enforcement and stronger cooperation between data protection authorities and other regulators. The initiatives include publishing case law-style materials based on national decisions, continuous review of guidelines, and coordinated enforcement strategies. The Board also aims to strengthen stakeholder engagement and advance a human-centric model of digital governance that responds effectively to new regulatory challenges.
