The Financial Activities Control Council (Coaf) has issued an ordinance in the Official Gazette of the Union, setting strict guidelines for the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI). The new regulations specifically restrict the use of the Microsoft Copilot platform, which is included in existing contracts. Among the prohibitions, the ordinance forbids processing confidential and sensitive data on external GAI platforms, covering information related to financial intelligence, regulatory oversight, and personal data protection. Additionally, the development and implementation of AI tools within Coaf must undergo internal evaluation and approval to ensure compliance with confidentiality and information security regulations.
The ordinance also highlights the individual responsibility of employees in using these technologies, stating that any misuse of AI will not exempt users from their obligations. Staff members who utilize GAI tools will be required to review the generated content to prevent inaccuracies, discrimination, or harm to Coaf and society. Moreover, the use of institutional email addresses to create accounts on external AI platforms is strictly prohibited, reinforcing the need for stringent control over these technologies within the institution.
