Resolution BCB No. 472, which takes effect on June 1, 2025, standardizes the interoperability events that may be charged and sets limits on the fees applied between registrars in operations involving card receivables. The measure aims to increase usage and reduce the cost of these credit operations, in line with the BC# Agenda – Competitiveness
The interoperability fee occurs when the funder uses a registration entity different from the one chosen by the acquirer (card machine provider). Since these fees are not subject to competition, the imposed limits aim to encourage efficiency and competitiveness in the credit market based on receivables. The expectation is that this will reduce costs for funders, which, in a competitive market, can be passed on to merchants, making credit more accessible.
