Starting August 7, 2025, Brazil’s National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) will offer a new service: the Fast-Track Trademark Processing. This initiative aims to accelerate the examination of certain trademark applications and petitions based on legal priorities or strategic and public policy objectives defined by the Institute. The move is part of the INPI Action Plan 2025, which seeks to boost innovation and economic development in Brazil.

The request for priority processing can be submitted by the applicant or a legal representative, using a specific form, providing supporting documents, and, in some cases, paying a fee. There are two categories of requests: one for legally defined priorities, which is free and unlimited, and another for strategic cases, which requires a fee of R$ 890.00 and is subject to quota limits.

Eligible applicants include seniors over 60, people with serious illnesses or disabilities, Inova Simples companies, scientific and technological institutions, parties involved in lawsuits, and cases involving national interest or emergencies. The new system is designed to improve efficiency and provide faster service to those with the greatest need.
