The Brazilian Notaries Public Association (Colégio Notarial do Brasil), which represents civil law notaries, has launched e-Not Provas, a digital service designed to collect, validate, and preserve content published in online environments. The platform enables users to formally evidence the existence of messages, social media posts, and website content, addressing more straightforward demands for digital proof. Developed within the e-Notariado system, the service aims to provide legal certainty to the authentication of screenshots and similar digital records.

e-Not Provas is positioned as an alternative to traditional notarial acts, including those carried out via videoconference, by offering a fully digital procedure. While a conventional notarial deed involves a detailed narrative of facts prepared by the notary, the new service focuses on the objective certification of specific digital content — such as screen captures — while preserving the notary’s involvement and the public faith inherent in notarial acts.

Another notable feature is its lower cost, which makes the service more widely accessible. According to the Brazilian Notaries Public Association, the fee per authentication generally ranges from R$ 4,00 to R$ 7,00, depending on the state fee schedule, and is set at R$ 5,00 in São Paulo. In addition, unlike comparable private initiatives, e-Not Provas is available to all notary offices across the country. The certified evidence is stored for a period of five years, with confirmation that the content existed at the specified web address on the stated date and time.
