On Tuesday, May 20, the Special Committee of the Chamber of Deputies was established to discuss Bill No. 2338/2023, which sets forth the Legal Framework for Artificial Intelligence in Brazil. The committee is composed of 33 full members and 33 alternates, with the mission of reviewing the text approved by the Senate and proposing improvements to ensure a balanced and effective regulation for the use of AI in the country.

In the coming weeks, the special committee is expected to organize new public hearings to listen to experts and representatives from civil society. This is a key moment for different sectors to contribute with suggestions regarding the regulatory impacts of the AI Legal Framework. The full list of committee members is available here, and the highlights from the congresswoman’s statement can be found at this link.
