On November 29, 2024, Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) extended the deadline to January 24, 2025, for public input on its initiative to gather contributions for regulating the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems in the context of personal data protection.
This initiative is part of the 2023-2024 Regulatory Agenda, particularly addressing compliance with Article 20 of the LGPD, which guarantees data subjects the right to request the review of automated decisions. The measure seeks to balance technological innovation and free enterprise with the protection of data subjects’ rights, as outlined in the General Data Protection Law (LGPD).
