Brazilian ANPD issues technical note on sexual deepfake generation through Grok on X
Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority has issued Technical Note No. 1/2026/FIS/CGF/ANPD concerning the generative AI system Grok, integrated into the X platform, following complaints alleging the creation and manipulation of sexualised synthetic content, including material involving children and adolescents, without effective safeguards for consent, age verification or legitimate purpose. The document analyses the applicability of the Brazilian General Data Protection Law to AI-generated images, videos and audio referring to identified or identifiable individuals. Learn more.
Brazilian Electoral Prosecution Seeks Financial Penalties for AI-Driven Disinformation in the 2026 General Elections
On February 5, 2026, during a public hearing held by the Superior Electoral Court to discuss the regulatory framework for the 2026 General Elections, Regional Federal Prosecutor Luiz Carlos Gonçalves proposed the imposition of fines of up to BRL 30,000 for the dissemination, in electoral advertising, of fabricated or manipulated disinformation, including content generated through artificial intelligence. According to the prosecutor, the proposal is intended to address a regulatory gap in the current electoral regime. Learn more.
Brazil’s Attorney General’s Office Establishes Intelligence Unit to Tackle Abusive Litigation
On December 26, 2025, the Office of the Attorney General of Brazil enacted an ordinance creating an Intelligence Center and a coordinated network to address abusive litigation filed against the Federal Government and its entities. The measure responds to an average of approximately 19,000 new lawsuits filed daily against the Union and seeks to detect fraudulent or bad-faith claims that may burden the judiciary and undermine procedural fairness. European Union Considers Imposing Measures to Ensure AI Interoperability on WhatsApp
On February 9, 2026, the European Commission announced that it may impose interim measures requiring Meta to grant rival artificial intelligence chatbots access to WhatsApp, as part of an antitrust investigation launched in late 2025. The authority indicated that Meta may have abused its dominant position by restricting independent AI services from accessing the messaging platform while favoring its own assistant, Meta AI, in potential breach of EU competition rules. AI, Innovation and Growth: WEF Introduces New Framework for Rethinking Economic
On January 17, 2024, at its annual meeting in Davos, the World Economic Forum released The Future of Growth Report 2024, proposing a structural reassessment of traditional economic growth metrics. While not exclusively focused on artificial intelligence, the report identifies technological innovation, including AI, as a key driver of high-quality growth alongside sustainability, inclusiveness and resilience. The new multidimensional framework evaluates 107 economies beyond GDP performance alone. Learn more.
