The Brazilian National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) has launched a call for projects to participate in its first regulatory sandbox focused on artificial intelligence and data protection. The initiative aims to foster experimentation with innovative technologies, techniques, and business models that promote algorithmic transparency. Applications are free of charge and open until August 10, 2025, via email to sandbox@anpd.gov.br. Participation is limited to public or private legal entities with the necessary technical and economic capacity.

The sandbox will run until December 2026 and include three selected participants. The process is divided into two phases: the first is the selection stage, and the second involves participation in the experimental environment, including onboarding, testing, and evaluation. Projects will be assessed based on criteria such as involvement in personal data processing, use of innovative AI systems, promotion of algorithmic transparency, and positive societal impact. A dedicated webinar will be held on July 15 to provide further guidance. The final list of selected participants will be published starting October 2, 2025.
