In an important step for the protection of women against technological crimes, Law 15.123/25 has been enacted, increasing penalties for cases of psychological violence committed using artificial intelligence (AI). The new law increases the prison sentence by 50%, ranging from six months to two years, for attacks carried out through technologies such as deepfakes, which alter images or audio of the victim.
The Bill 370/24, authored by Deputy Jandira Feghali (PCdoB-RJ), was approved in the context of Women’s Month discussions and aims to combat the misuse of AI in crimes that affect the dignity and mental health of women. Deepfakes, for example, have been used to create false content of a sexual nature, damaging the victim’s reputation and mental health.
As technology advances, the use of AI to manipulate images, videos, and audios of women has become a growing threat. The new law represents an important milestone in criminalizing these practices, ensuring a more rigorous legal response for those who commit such crimes.
