On December 10, 2024, the Senate approved the bill to regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Brazil (PL 2338/23), after consensus among senators and without changes to the report approved by the Internal Temporary Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CTIA). The AI Bill of Law will not be subject to review by the Chamber of Deputies.
The project aims to balance the protection of fundamental rights with the encouragement of technological innovation, promoting safe and reliable AI systems for the benefit of society. The matter defines the rights of users, the obligations of the agents responsible for the systems and classifies the risks into categories, establishing a governance mechanism.
